My interest in product design stems from my childhood passion for LEGO. When my grandparents gifted me an X-wing starfighter LEGO set for my 5th birthday, I instantly fell in love with the plastic bricks. After I first assembled the structure according to the instructions, I later broke it down, using the parts to experiment and build new things. The endless possibilities of building a variety of shapes with the same pieces constantly excite me. This hobby inspired me to study design, in hopes of one day becoming the kind of designer who builds fun products like LEGO.
In my current role as a product designer, I am able to combine my passion for design with my academic background in IT management and the problem-solving skills I honed as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.
I was born and raised in Japan. After high school, I wanted to see the world beyond my hometown. I lived in the US for almost 5 years, and I currently live in Hong Kong. Living in different countries has made me adaptable to a new environment and helped me connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Outside of work, basketball has played a huge role in my life. The love of the game was passed down to me via my father, and I've played since I was little. It's taught me many life lessons about competition and teamwork. Since college, although I don't have the time to play as often, you can still find me on a court whenever I have the chance.
